About Aura

I enjoy working with clients struggling with trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, spiritual crises, chronic pain, and perinatal issues.  Many of my clients have experienced:

  • A traumatic event or recent major stressor

  • Significant childhood trauma

  • Unrelenting mental, emotional, or physical symptoms

  • Seeing multiple providers without true progress

A lot of my clients have had significant symptoms of trauma, anxiety, or depression, and they have done a fair amount of healing work already. They may have seen other providers before without seeing significant change. Some of my favorite clients are interested in exploring not only the things in their physical history, but spiritual and soul-level experiences as well.  If this describes you, and you are ready to do transformative work together, I can't wait to meet you.

I am an experiential and somatic-focused therapist, and I am trained in a variety of modalities and tools.  I use deep listening, EMDR, IFS/parts work, and other somatic modalities to help my clients achieve profound and lasting change. I also incorporate ancestor work, energy work, and spiritual work as desired by clients. Focusing on somatic approaches means that we will likely spend time getting outside of your everyday, cognitive approach to problem-solving, and practicing accessing the wisdom in your body, nervous system, and inner knowing.  There will still be time for problem-solving and more cognitive approaches when it's helpful!

My practice is located in Athens, GA, and I offer online therapy to clients anywhere in the state of Georgia.  Read more about online therapy here.

My Philosophy

I am constantly amazed and humbled by my clients, and in this work I love witnessing the the adaptability and tenacity of the human spirit.  I believe every person has the ability to radically heal from their history and trauma.  I know it shouldn't take a lifetime to get there.  Don't worry if you don't yet trust that you have this ability: you can borrow my confidence in you as we work to build your own.  I expect that you will see significant progress in the time we are working together, and if you don't, I will help you find someone who can offer you that. I am honored to be able to walk beside you and hold a strong container for you to work in, grow in, and heal in.

Inclusion

I make every effort to make my therapy space a welcoming and safe space for clients no matter their race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, pronouns, size, shape, or presentation.  LGBTQ clients and people of color are welcome here.  I will work hard to understand your experience and take responsibility for my own privilege, blind spots, and learning.
