An IFS session is highly collaborative and experiential. While we do talk, much of the work involves closing your eyes or softening your gaze and turning your attention inward. We track where different emotions or "parts" show up in your body, ask them what they need you to know, and help them step back so your core, compassionate Self can lead the healing process.

Weekly sessions are highly recommended at the beginning of therapy to establish consistent momentum, build a strong therapeutic relationship, and develop reliable coping tools. Biweekly sessions are often a great fit for maintenance, integration, or individuals who already have a strong foundation of work and are looking to space the work out a bit.
Absolutely. This is one of the greatest benefits of working with us. Many clients utilize our weekly sessions to build stability and coping tools, step into a specialized multi-day or single-day trauma intensive to clear a major emotional bottleneck, and then return to their weekly structure for ongoing integration and support.
Yes, absolutely. Seeking therapy with us is fully confidential under state licensing laws and HIPAA guidelines. Your privacy is our highest priority, allowing you to unpack the realities of the job without fear of professional repercussions or judgment.

Many people find that even after achieving physical sobriety, their internal anxiety, restlessness, or triggers remain incredibly high. Our integrated therapy focuses on clearing out those root emotional triggers while providing active relapse prevention, significantly reducing the internal stress that sparks intense cravings in the first place.
No, you do not have to be completely sober to start EMDR or trauma therapy. The timing for reprocessing trauma using EMDR varies widely based on each person and their unique nervous system and needs. Our goal is to help you get as stable as possible and then begin processing and clearing trauma as soon as possible. For some people, this means they will be 100% sober and very stable before doing trauma processing. For others, we may be using a harm reduction approach to achieve as much stability as possible and then moving forward without waiting for perfect stability, because they won't achieve that until their trauma is cleared! You will not be able to do therapy or EMDR while actively under the influence of substance, i.e. you have to be sober to come to session. However, we will help you manage the details of timing your sessions around your current life situation.

EMDR can be a helpful addition to OCD treatment for some people, particularly when traumatic experiences, distressing memories, or other emotionally charged experiences are contributing to intrusive thoughts or overall distress. EMDR can help reduce the emotional intensity connected to these experiences while OCD-focused interventions address the thoughts, urges, and compulsive behaviors that maintain the OCD cycle.

In many talk therapy settings, people spend time gaining insight, working to understand where their struggles came from, learning new skills, and learning new ways to think about things. In EMDR, we focus on finding the root of the problem and clearing it out completely, so that you no longer have automatic reactions that you can't control. This happens at the level of the body and the nervous system. After EMDR is complete, you can expect things that used to trigger you to not bother you anymore or to be easily let go of, and to have more control in how you respond to things that are stressful.
We offer regular 50 minute therapy sessions that range in cost from $100-175 depending on therapist and location. We also offer intensive services that start at $450 for a half-day intensive. We do not accept any insurance, but we can provide a superbill if you have Out of Network coverage. We do have some limited sliding scale spots, and we also partner with several non-profits who can help cover the cost of services if you cannot afford to pay out of pocket.
No, our treatments are for anyone who has mental health symptoms preventing you from living a full life. We can help you resolve the roots of your symptoms so that you can focus on enjoying your life! We work with anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, dissociation, and many other presenting concerns.
Yes! We love helping people who have not been helped by traditional first line treatments, like talk therapy or anti-depressants. Those things can both be helpful, but they usually don't involve finding and resolving the root of symptoms, which is what we do best. We have successfully helped many people with a life-long history of trauma or with many failed attempts at medications or other treatments.
We have other effective trauma treatment tools we will offer you in addition to EMDR, but we encourage you to have a conversation with us and see if it's possible EMDR might still be helpful. There are many EMDR therapists in the world, many of them good, but others of them don't follow protocol or don't have the advanced, in-depth training to work with complex issues. Basic training alone does not equip someone to work with complex trauma. We are dedicated to ongoing training and consultation and have many hours of advanced training under our belts. It is rare that we find a client who doesn't benefit from this work with the model and training that we use. That being said, there is no need to do EMDR if it isn't the right fit for you.
If you have a regular therapist you love, we encourage you to continue seeing them while you are doing work with us. We are happy to collaborate with them, and it can be helpful to have that person to help you process and integrate the big shifts that can occur during this work.
Some clients look forward to telling the story of something bad that has happened to them and having someone who is trained and compassionate listen to them. Others would rather not. In this treatment, you do not have to say aloud anything unless you want to. We can do this treatment with zero knowledge of the details, other than it is helpful to know the age range of the thing we are working on. You will likely have to bring some difficult memories up in your own mind and feel the feelings associated with them, but then we will quickly use our tools to help reduce the distress and discomfort of the memories.
Treatment time varies widely depending on how much trauma you have experienced in your life, the severity of your symptoms, and when they started. A one time trauma, such as a traumatic wreck, loss of a loved one, or medical event, can often be successfully treated in several hours or a handful of sessions. A history of complex, severe trauma that started young may take many months to treat. We can discuss our estimate for treatment after your initial intake and assessment.
Intensive therapy provides extended, focused treatment over one or multiple days. Rather than spending months building momentum between weekly sessions, intensives allow us to stay connected to the work long enough to create meaningful movement and deeper processing within one week.
Intensives are often ideal for people who have already engaged in therapy, developed coping skills, and are ready to address deeper layers of trauma, attachment wounds, dissociation, or long-standing emotional patterns. Shorter intensives can work for all types of clients and enable them to do the work more efficiently. We will use the intake appointment to determine if you are a good fit for an intensive, if that is what you are most interested in.
No. All services are private pay. We can provide you with a superbill for psychotherapy services. We also offer some sliding scale spots and have some non-profit partners that help cover the cost of therapy. You are welcome to inquire about these options.
Yes! We can do EMDR and all other forms of therapy online, and our licenses allow us to serve anyone physically located in the state of Georgia. We would be happy to discuss what virtual therapy looks like with you.
