About Aura
Aura Morris, LCSW
Trauma Therapist in Athens and Alpharetta, GA
I enjoy working with clients with all types of trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression who have done a fair amount of therapy already and are ready for something deeper. If you have a good understanding of where your symptoms come from but haven't been able to shift the automatic emotional and physical reactions, lets talk.
I am an experiential and somatic-focused therapist, and I am trained in a variety of modalities and tools. I work with the body and the nervous system. I use deep listening, EMDR, IFS/parts work, and other somatic modalities to help my clients achieve profound and lasting change. I also incorporate ancestor work, energy work, and spiritual work as desired by clients. Focusing on somatic approaches means that we will likely spend time getting outside of your everyday, cognitive approach to problem-solving, and practicing accessing the wisdom in your body, nervous system, and inner knowing. There will still be time for problem-solving and more cognitive approaches when it's helpful!
I work only in intensives these days, which are 1 day or multi-day sessions where we do a large chunk of work at one time. You can read more about my specific intensive offerings at www.auramorris.com. I offer intensives in Alpharetta, Athens, and Buckhead, and I offer online therapy to clients anywhere in the state of Georgia. Read more about online therapy here.

My Philosophy
I am constantly amazed and humbled by my clients, and in this work I love witnessing the the adaptability and tenacity of the human spirit. I believe every person has the ability to radically heal from their history and trauma. I know it shouldn't take a lifetime to get there. Don't worry if you don't yet trust that you have this ability: you can borrow my confidence in you as we work to build your own. I expect that you will see significant progress in the time we are working together, and if you don't, I will help you find someone who can offer you that. I am honored to be able to walk beside you and hold a strong container for you to work in, grow in, and heal in.
Inclusion
I make every effort to make my therapy space a welcoming and safe space for clients no matter their race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, pronouns, size, shape, or presentation. LGBTQ clients and people of color are welcome here. I will work hard to understand your experience and take responsibility for my own privilege, blind spots, and learning.
