About Laurel

Laurel Chapman, CADC II
Trauma Therapist in Alpharetta, GA

I am a passionate and experienced behavioral health professional and licensed clinician specializing in addiction, trauma, and complex mental health disorders.

While trauma is not specific to any one person, culture, religion or profession, I have specialized experience working with veterans, first responders, and individuals impacted by gang involvement. I have developed a strong focus on trauma-informed care with a holistic view of my client’s needs. I have extensive experience treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD, as well as co-occurring and dual-diagnosis disorders.

I have had the honor of working with a broad range of complex clinical presentations, including substance use addictions, process addictions, dissociative identity disorder, and borderline personality disorder. Additionally, I provide grief counseling and support for individuals navigating significant loss and life transitions.

I am certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, with training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).  As a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and Certified Clinical Supervisor with the Alcohol and Drug Certification Board of Georgia, I offer extensive expertise in both clinical practice and professional development of other counselors.

My Philosophy

My clinical approach integrates evidence-based and somatic modalities to support deep and sustainable healing. It can be terrifying look intentionally at memories that intrude on your thoughts and cause you to loose sleep at night.  I strive to always be respectful of my clients autonomy as we work to free them in the present from the pain of the past. My office is a sacred place of safety where my client's comfort and confidentiality are always a top priority.

Through a compassionate, structured, and trauma-informed lens, I am honored and committed to helping clients build emotional regulation skills, restore stability, and achieve meaningful long-term recovery and psychological resilience.
