About AJ
I see you are looking into therapy, how *insert various emotions here*!
Looking for a therapist can invoke so many emotions and thoughts. It is important to find a therapist that you can connect with as a human, to feel safe enough to share what you may have been holding for a while, and someone who has experience in modalities that can be helpful for your needs.
My clients are often folks who identify with having anxiety, depression, trauma, are intellectualizers, and/or neurodivergent. Oftentimes this is coupled with identifying as a people pleaser and being told you are “sensitive.” I use modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), somatic therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to address symptoms that prevent folks from living a life they want and deserve.
I approach therapy by meeting you where you are and collaborating with you to understand your needs and what may be getting in the way of those needs being met. I often talk with my hands, have multiple avenues of thought at a time, and fidget throughout the session. We can sit on the couch, on the floor, or go for a walk! I encourage you to bring your full authentic self to session, as you deserve to be seen and appreciated exactly as you are.
If you resonate and would like to know if we’d be a good fit, please feel free to email me at aj@thebrannencenter.com to schedule a free 15 minute phone consultation.

My Philosophy
Being a social worker means acknowledging the systems at large that have significant impacts on our individual lives and in our communities. I believe we can work together to find ways to live within these systems (and work towards changing them) based on our own strengths, both individually and within our trusted community.
I will work diligently to understand your experience and take accountability for my own privilege and areas of growth.
